The Los Angeles software company is known for its in-game rewards and promotions platform.

Versus Systems Inc. (CSE:VS) (OTCQB:VRSSF) (FRA:BMVA), a Los Angeles-based software company and a pioneer in the field of in-game rewards and promotions, announced in a recent press release “…the first Asia-Pacific launch of its patented in-game rewards platform OMEN Rewards.” The company has developed an in-game rewards platform as an alternative to traditional advertising. Users play their favorite games and they can choose to play for real-world prizes like gift cards, discounts, apparel and experiences.

The American company’s announcement to expand into the Asia-Pacific market is a significant milestone toward its plans for global expansion.

Powered by Versus, the company’s rewards platform is being brought to Asia inside HP’s OMEN Command Center, the product of a multi-year collaboration between Versus Systems and HP. The patented technology will be pre-loaded on all new HP OMEN and HP Pavilion laptop and desktop computers, also available for any PC through the Windows App store. With the Asia-Pacific market boasting over 900 million online users, the decision to expand into this market is a rite of passage for any company looking for the gaming world’s seal of approval.

The Asia-Pacific region is predicted to generate $78.4 billion in gaming revenue alone in 2020, according to Newzoo’s 2020 Global Games Market Report, a figure which accounts for almost half of all gaming revenue worldwide. The shopping habits of this market generate a buying power capable of making or breaking businesses, so it is not a market to be entered loosely.

Differentiated value proposition

In a market dense with competition, what differentiating features does the OMEN Command Center offer to consumers that are not already accessible to them?

Answer: Consumer choice and earned rewards.

The multi-year collaboration between HP and Versus Systems created both a product and software capable of incentivizing repeat player participation. HP, which was founded in Palo Alto California in 1939, is an American multinational information technology powerhouse in computer development. Versus Systems, another American-based innovation, is a pioneer in the implementation of rewards-based gaming. Together, the two have combined their assets to create a hybrid of world-class computer technology and design integrated with industry-leading in-game rewards software.

Players can now play their favorite games seamlessly across devices, ultimately turning their victories into real-world prizes of their choice in the form of DLC (digital) prizes, such as limited-edition skins, physical prizes like apparel and collectibles, coupons, and vouchers for food and beverage favorites, or experiences such as trips or tickets to exclusive events. Though the concept of in-game rewards is not unique to Versus, their patented technology allows players to customize their rewards for personal preferences.

Asian market shopping habits

When a gaming venture enters the Asian market, China is typically among one of the first countries for expansion. As a force in the global gaming market, both in terms of revenue generated and number of players, China has the power to set the stage for success. In 2020, what we see from China based on gamer insights from Niko Partners, is a renewed interest in PC gaming, which benefits the success and longevity of the OMEN Command Center’s introduction to the region.

Though PC gaming is a mature market in China with growth predicted to be slight, it is still forecasted to grow by 30 million more players by 2024. This growth represents a significant number of players searching for devices to enter the market with, presenting a prime opportunity for new industry members, such as the OMEN Command Center, to gain popularity amongst a new consumer following.

What’s more, the COVID-19 pandemic saw 95% of China’s PC gamers increase the time they spent gaming on their PC devices, with 75% of this segment claiming to have spent more money on PC gaming. This bodes well for new PC devices and software entering the market as it is developing consumer trends and habits that are anticipated to persist past the pandemic.

Unique features

Not all players are willing to adopt new gaming devices and software simply on the promise of rewards, however. The OMEN Command Center combats this skepticism in being the by-product of HP and Versus’ multi-year collaboration. Rewards are used to incentivize player participation, but a seamless gaming experience further aids in attracting and retaining gamers and fans.

Through extensive market research and optimal design focus, the OMEN Command Center offers unique features, enhancing player productivity through an intuitive and accessible set up:

Coaching by mobalytics: The software offers to coach players, helping them play smarter and train harder through the use of AI to evaluate skills, providing a Gamer Performance Index to highlight strengths and weaknesses.

Central hub: Players can access their full library of games from one central hub, which keeps games organized and tracks Game Time.

Customized loadout: Players can customize their OMEN Command Center display settings, matching it to their preferences.
