Intel Stock – Counter Intel: Denzel Moore Picks Indiana, Texas Lands In-State Lineman

Counter Intel is the smart Ohio State fan’s look at recruiting action taking place within the Big Ten and top national programs.

Denzel Moore Commits to Indiana

Tom Allen has certainly upped Indiana’s recruiting in recent years since taking over for Kevin Wilson, and he landed another big fish this week when 2023 linebacker Denzel Moore announced that he would be heading to Bloomington when his high school career is over.

Moore hails from Collins Hill High School in Suwanee, Georgia, the same school as 2022 five-star cornerback Travis Hunter (Florida State commit) and 2022 four-star quarterback Sam Horn (Missouri commit).

While Moore is unrated, that is simply because only the top 100 prospects in the 2023 class currently have ratings. He is Indiana’s first commit in the 2023 class, and chose the Hoosiers over offers from programs such as Auburn and Florida State.

Kristopher Ross Will Stay In-State, Picks Texas

Steve Sarkisian has also been active on the recruiting trail since taking over at Texas, and this week he landed another in-state prospect, 2022 three-star defensive lineman Kristopher Ross.

Ross is rated as the No. 430 player overall, and the No. 58 player in the state of Texas. The Houston native is teammates with 2022 five-star defensive back Denver Harris at North Shore High School, so perhaps this addition will sway Harris towards Austin even more.

Ross is the seventh commitment in Texas’ 2022 class, and the sixth who hails from the Lone Star State. He chose the Longhorns over offers from programs such as Auburn, Baylor, Oklahoma, and USC.

Georgia Lands Another Five-Star

Georgia’s recruiting momentum has risen ever since Kirby Smart took over in Athens, and it doesn’t appear to be stopping in 2022. The Bulldogs currently have the No. 2 overall class in 2022 (behind only Ohio State), and this week picked up the commitment of five-star athlete Malaki Starks.

A Georgia native, Starks is rated as the No. 29 overall player in the 2022 class, and the No. 4 player from the Peach State. He is the third five-star in Georgia’s class, joining quarterback Gunner Stockton and athlete Deyon Bouie
