Share Market LIVE: Sensex opens above 48,500, Nifty nears 14,600; ONGC, Bajaj Finance top index gainers

Share Market News Today | Sensex, Nifty, Share Prices LIVE: Benchmark indices and broader markets opened with gains on Wednesday morning. S&P BSE Sensex was up more than 300 points, sitting above 48,500, while the Nifty 50 was inching closer to 14,600. Some profit booking did take the indices lower but remained in the green. ONGC, IndusInd Bank, and Titan Company were the top index gainers. HDFC, Bajaj Auto were the worst-performing stocks. Broader markets were surging higher, outperforming the benchmark. Bank Nifty was up with gains, Nifty PSU Bank index continued to rally. 

Eyes will be glued in RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das, who is scheduled to address the media on Wednesday morning. Dalal Street will keep a close eye on what the RBI chief says and if any market-moving announcements are made by Shaktikanta Das. The RBI has so far decided to keep rates unchanged at 4% and has maintained its accommodative stance. RBI Governor, during the last MPC meet, earlier in April had said that the second wave of coronavirus is the single biggest challenge to India’s economic recovery.
