PS5 stock – live: Game, Argos, Very and BT restocks available now – how to buy your console

view original post

LIVE – Updated at 09:18

Update 21 July: Just like yesterday, the PS5 is still in stock at GameVery and the BT Shop, as well being available from Argos in some locations. Smyths Toys is due a restock later this month. Read on for more information.

Since its launch in 2020, the PlayStation 5 has been ridiculously difficult to procure. Supply chain issues stemming from the coronavirus pandemic have brought the production of Sony’s latest games console to a near-standstill.

Thankfully, the state of affairs has improved massively in recent months, with the PS5 remaining in stock in at least one retailer since late April, with Game and the BT Shop, plus several independent retailers like The Game Collection and Scan leading the charge.

We expect this avalanche of console restocks to continue throughout the summer. But while restocks have become more frequent, buying a console on its own is still a challenge, with retailers preferring to restock bundles over the standalone console. Those sell out in the blink of an eye. Digital consoles – bundles included – are even more difficult to find, and have basically vanished from the face of the earth.

If you’re still hunting down the elusive PlayStation 5, we’ve got one tip for you – sit yourself down on this liveblog and watch for your real-time alerts. Our aim is to secure you a next-gen machine, whether that’s a bundle, or a standalone disc or digital edition console, as well as provide you with the details on the best games and accessories to nab alongside your new console, plus the latest game reviews.

These are the PS5 bundles available at Game today

09:01 , Alistair Charlton

Game is one of several retailers with PS5 stock available online today. The console isn’t available on its own – and the cheaper digital edition is still missing in action – but three bundles are at least ready to buy right now.

The cheapest bundle is priced at £514.98 and includes the PS5 disc edition, plus a second Dualsense controller in white and a ‘Player 1’ branded gamepad case.

This bundle is also offered with the se and controller in blue, for £519.98. Lastly, a £524.98 bundle include the PS5 disc edition and controller case, plus Horizon Forbidden West.

We leave you today with news that the PS5 console is still available as part of a Dualsense bundle at Game, however bundles with the controller in black and pink have sold out, leaving only the white and blue options remaining.

Elsewhere, the console can still be pre-ordered from Very ahead of delivery on 12 August, and stock is also still available at BT Shop.

Lastly, the Argos website says a PS5 digital edition bundle with Horizon Forbidden West is still available, but only in certain parts of the country, so you’ll have to enter your postcode to see if the £409.99 bundle is available near you.

As ever, we’ll be back tomorrow to bring you all of the latest PS5 restocking news as soon as we have it.

Can you buy a PS5 on the high street?

Wednesday 20 July 2022 15:30 , Alistair Charlton

If you thought buying a PS5 online was tricky, you should try finding one on your local high street. We’ve usually found Game and Smyths to be the best options here, with each occasionally having a handful of consoles available at some of their stores. But at the moment those consoles are few and far between.

Smyths Toys shops don’t have any stock, at least according to the retailer’s website. As for Game, we’ve seen a single PS5 digital edition at the Lisburn branch, and that same shop says disc edition consoles can be pre-ordered. Game’s Chatham branch also has limited supply of PS5 disc edition consoles today, while in Wolverhampton disc edition consoles are expected “soon”.

And…that’s it. It really is slim pickings out there today, but hopefully the situation will improve soon. You can keep an eye on Game in-store stock by following this Twitter list, which shows every tweet from every branch across the UK.

The Fifa 23 reveal trailer lands today

Wednesday 20 July 2022 14:30 , Alistair Charlton

Want to know more about EA’s last Fifa game? Well we have some good news for you, because the reveal trailer for Fifa 23 – the last EA football game to carry the Fifa name, before the switch to EA Sports Football in 2024 – lands later today.

More specifically, the trailer arrives in just a couple of hours’ time, at 17:00 BST today, 20 July, and will be available on EA’s YouTube channel. As well as gameplay and a glimpse at new features and game modes, we expect to see pre-order and release date details.

EA previously said of the upcoming game: “EA and FIFA are excited to deliver the greatest, most expansive game ever later this fall. Our final FIFA product will also include more game modes, features, teams, leagues, players, and competitions than any previous edition. Fans will be able to experience these innovations across the full EA Sports FIFA ecosystem including FIFA Mobile, FIFA Online 4, and eSports.”

Can you buy a PS5 directly from Sony?

Wednesday 20 July 2022 13:34 , Alistair Charlton

Sony’s own online store, called PlayStation Direct, has offered consoles to UK buyers for around nine months now. But, like many other retailers, it rarely has any stock available. Yes, even the company that makes the PS5 is struggling to keep supply available on its virtual shelves for gamers to purchases.

We last saw a restock at PS Direct on 1 July, and before that consoles landed on 10 and 24 May, then 7 June. There’s isn’t much in the way of a pattern here, and it’s hard to predict when more consoles will arrive. Instead, we suggest gamers head to retailers with stock available today, including Game and BT Shop.

Here’s how BT customers can buy a PS5 console today

Wednesday 20 July 2022 12:31 , Alistair Charlton

For months now, BT has offered its existing customers a helping hand when it comes to securing a PS5 console. The telecom periodically emails out codes to its broadband subscribers, which can then be used to access PS5 stock on the BT Shop website. You can also get a code through the My BT online portal.

Once you have a code, the BT Shop will sell you a PS5 disc edition with Horizon Forbidden West for £499.99, or with the game and an extra Dualsense controller for £549.97.

When might Amazon have a PS5 restock?

Wednesday 20 July 2022 11:29 , Alistair Charlton

You can’t currently buy a PS5 console from Amazon – at least not at the regular retail price, anyway. But we’ve a feeling the situation will soon change, as it’s coming up to an entire month since the retail giant last had PS5 stock in its warehouses. Consoles were last available on 21 June, and before that we saw restocks on 8 and 15 June, too.

In fact, we haven’t waited for more than a month between PS5 console restocks at Amazon since a drought between 23 March and 27 April. Hopefully we’ll see consoles land in the next few days, and as ever we’ll be the first to let you know when they finally arrive.

How to get PS Plus extra and premium free for seven days

Wednesday 20 July 2022 10:32 , Alistair Charlton

Earlier this week, Sony announced a free trial offer for the new extra and premium tiers of its PS Plus subscription service. To get access to either tier for an entire week, all you have to do is visit the PlayStation website and choose which tier you’d like to try. If you don’t want to pay after the trial ends, make sure to cancel your subscription within the seven-day trial.

For those unfamiliar with what’s new from PS Plus, here’s everything you need to know:

PS5 consoles can be pre-ordered today from Very

Wednesday 20 July 2022 09:47 , Alistair Charlton

Very is another retailer with PS5 consoles available to order today – or rather, they are up for pre-order, ahead of delivery in August.

Borrowing a leaf out of Game’s playbook when it comes to creating PS5 pre-order systems, Very is offering the PS5 disc edition with Horizon Forbidden West for £499.99. Adding a second game in the form of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, or a second Dualsense gamepad, increases the price to £559.98.

All three options are available to pre-order now, with Very saying consoles will be delivered on 12 August.

These PS5 bundles are available from Game right now

Wednesday 20 July 2022 09:41 , Alistair Charlton

Game is another retailer to have stock available right now – and, unlike Argos, you can have your PS5 delivered to where you actually live. Game’s current range of PS5 console bundles are priced from £514.98, and for that you get the disc edition console with an additional Dualsense game pad (in white, black, blue or pink), and a ‘Player 1’ branded controller case.

Game is also selling the console with Horizon Forbidden West and the controller case, but without the second Dualsense, for £524.98.

PS5 digital edition consoles land at Argos (sort of)

Wednesday 20 July 2022 09:08 , Alistair Charlton

Argos quietly restocked its PS5 supplies last night, with the lesser-spotted digital edition console added to the retailer’s online inventory. But, as is all-too-often the way with Argos, being able to buy one is something of a postcode lottery. We’ve seen some shoppers claim stock is available in Wales, but we are otherwise unable to find consoles for ourselves.

The Argos website says the PS5 digital edition, with a download code for Horizon Forbidden West, is in stock and priced at £409.99. So some consoles must be available, but stock is added to the Argos system gradually, and you’ll have to enter your postcode to see if consoles are available for delivery or collection in your area.

Good morning

Wednesday 20 July 2022 08:52 , Alistair Charlton

Good morning and welcome to another day of PS5 hunting. Several retailers still have consoles available to buy right now, and we’ve spotted more stock land overnight too. As ever, we’ll be bringing you all of the latest PS5 restocking news all day, across retailers in the UK and US, so stay tuned to this liveblog if you’re still on the lookout for a PS5 console.

PS5 tracker, signing off

Tuesday 19 July 2022 17:31 , Jasper Pickering

That’s all from us today! We’re still seeing stock available at Game, Very, ShopToand the BT Shop. The cheapest of these is from ShopTo with the digital edition bundle but if you’re looking for the cheapest disc edition of the console, then your best bet is at Very.

We’ll be back with the liveblog first thing tomorrow, with a drop from Argos expected to happen soon. See you then!

When will PS5 slim console be revealed?

Tuesday 19 July 2022 16:29 , Jasper Pickering

Now that the PS5 shortage has started to ease up, people are turning their attention to the next iteration of the PS5, and that’s the PS5 slim. While we still haven’t heard any news from Playstation directly, every previous generation has had a smaller version of the console released a few years into the generation’s lifecycle.

Next year, the PS5 will be three years old, and that’s usually when we see a slim version of Sony’s console released. Of course, that timeline might be pushed back considering the supply constraints, but it’s one we’ll be keeping a close eye on.

When could Argos drop stock this week?

Tuesday 19 July 2022 14:27 , Jasper Pickering

We always rely on the @PS5StockAlertUK

Twitter account to help us keep an eye on the latest PS5 stock rumours and now it seems that Argos could see a restock this week.

The Twitter account has insiders scurrying around the Argos warehouse, dropping notes about the next drop, and it’s apparently not too far off now.

The stock tracker predicts digital edition consoles to arrive at Argos sometime between 18-20 July, with disc edition consoles dropping a week later between 25-27 July. As soon as we see stock start to appear on the retailer’s site, we’ll be sure to let you know.

When will ‘FIFA 23’ be released?

Tuesday 19 July 2022 13:29 , Jasper Pickering

While we eagerly await official news from EA Sports about the imminent release of the next FIFA game, it’s certainly guaranteed that we will be able to get our hands on it later this year, and we could be hearing about the game’s release date in the next few days.

Ever since the news that EA Sports has ended its relationship with FIFA, what is most uncertain is what direction the series will go in next. We do know that the next game will be the last associated with the football federation and it will almost certainly be titled FIFA 23, following on from existing naming conventions.

After that, Electronic Arts plans on renaming the franchise EA Sports FC, and while not quite as catchy, it does distinguish the games publisher from the current relationship between the two organisations. To find out more about FIFA 23’s potential release date, read our full guide to find out more.

What bundles are available from Very

Tuesday 19 July 2022 12:31 , Jasper Pickering

Very is one of our favourite retailers when it comes to PS5 stock. They tend to stock consoles fairly regularly and when they do, they tend to stick around for a while.

Right now, you can pick up a PS5 bundled with (you guessed it) Horizon Forbidden West. It’s one of our favourite games on the PS5 currently and the total cost of the bundle comes to £499.99, which will save you around £20 off the cost of the game’s RRP.

Which PS5 bundle is cheapest from Game?

Tuesday 19 July 2022 11:35 , Jasper Pickering

If you’re hoping to pick up a new PS5 bundle from Game, then there are still a few options available, but which one is currently the cheapest?

As predicted, the standalone console has already sold out but right now, the two cheapest bundles currently available come with either a black or white dualsense controller as well as a carry case. Each costs £514.98 (Game.co.uk).

What PS5 bundles are available at ShopTo?

Tuesday 19 July 2022 10:30 , Jasper Pickering

If you’re on the hunt for a digital edition of the PS5, then you will be aware that they tend to drop at a much slower rate than their disc edition counterparts. Luckily, there are still some bundles available at ShopTo.

The digital bundle is the last bundle still available and it comes with a copy of Horizon Forbidden West, currently priced at £409.85 (Shopto.net).

‘FIFA 23’ cover star revealed

Tuesday 19 July 2022 10:10 , Jasper Pickering

Another big announcement in the world of FIFA 23 is the announcement of a new cover star, so who will it be this year?

Well this year is rather exciting, as EA Sports has revealed the series’s first female cover star, Sam Kerr, who joins returning cover star Kylian Mbappé.

The full reveal for FIFA 23 is set to go live on 20 July at 5pm UK time, so be sure to stay tuned for that!

‘Stray’ releases today

Tuesday 19 July 2022 09:45 , Jasper Pickering

If you were looking for a new game to try out on your new PS5, then the highly anticipated Stray (£24.99, Playstation.com) was just released on Playstation consoles this morning.

We loved our time with the cat-based platformer (a catformer, if you will). In our review of Stray, we said: “With Stray, BlueTwelve Studios and Annapurna Interactive have crafted a memorable experience that finishes just as it gets comfortable with its footing. But while it is short, it’s a testament to how the game looks, sounds and plays that it begs for more.

Those who are curious to explore Stray’s world on Playstation can pick up a free copy with a PS Plus extra and/or premium subscription, making it a worthy addition to your digital library.”

Good morning, PS5 trackers

Tuesday 19 July 2022 08:47 , Jasper Pickering

And we’re back! It looks like we’re currently in stock over at Game and the BT Shop with bundles from Very and ShopTo available as well. We’re expecting Argos stock to drop this week, so we’ll be keeping a particularly close eye on the retailer as we wait for more consoles.

Be sure to stay tuned to the liveblog for more information!

A recap of today’s PS5 restock events

Monday 18 July 2022 17:30 , Alex Lee

All righty folks, we got through the first sweaty day of restocks this week, with ShopTo joining the fray as it dropped digital edition console bundles.

Disc edition PS5 bundles are still in stock at GameVery and the BT Shop if you’re still after one of those. And they’re not too keenly priced either! We’ve never seen a better time to buy the console with these all-time low prices.

Not appetising enough? We’ll be back tomorrow to see if any standalone consoles drop. Until then!

When could Currys restock the PS5?

Monday 18 July 2022 15:30 , Alex Lee

Currys could restock the console again later this month. The retailer last dropped a bunch of bundles onto its website on 27 June, with stock selling out on 6 July.

Currys has been doing this quite frequently recently – releasing console bundles toward the end of the month, so expect another drop toward the end of July. That said, bundles at Currys are always expensive, costing £610 and above, so it’s not a retailer to rely on if you’re searching for a cheap bundle or a standalone console.

Best PS5 games

Monday 18 July 2022 14:30 , Alex Lee

Now that you’ve got a PS5 on the way, you’re probably going to want to get some new games to play on your machine. We’ve rounded up 19 of our favourite PS5 games that everyone needs to play, and the list contains both new games and old.

One of our top picks is Deathloop. “Like Arkane Studios’s other titles, Deathloop is a genre-bending mixture of stealth, role-play, first-person shooting all set in a stylish world,” our writer said in their review. “Players will control Colt Vahn, as he tries to escape Blackreef, an island populated by hedonists using a timeloop to host an endless party”.

When could John Lewis restock the PS5?

Monday 18 July 2022 13:30 , Alex Lee

John Lewis & Partners last restocked the PS5 on 5 July and before that on 25 May. The retailer used to restock the console very infrequently – generally once every two and a half months – but John Lewis has caught on to other retailer’s practices, and has begun bundling the machine with other accessories.

This has meant that restocks at John Lewis are lasting more than a couple of minutes and are taking place far more frequently. That said, we’re still doubtful about another restock taking place this month.

Monday 18 July 2022 11:05 , Alex Lee

When could Smyths Toys restock the PS5?

Monday 18 July 2022 10:40 , Alex Lee

Smyths Toys has already had three restocks this month – one on Friday 8 July, one on Wednesday 13 July and another on Friday 15 July, is there a chance that it could have another restock this week?

Potentially, Smyths Toys restocks are fairly hard to predict, but the retailer does tend to drop stock towards the latter half of the week, so keep your eyes peeled.

BT restocks a £499.99 PS5 bundle

Monday 18 July 2022 10:15 , Alex Lee

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the PS5 is currently in stock at the BT Shop, as it has done for the last three months. It seems like the retailer has also just restocked the Horizon Forbidden West bundle onto its website for £499.99.

As always, you need to be a BT Broadband customer to buy the console from the BT Shop. Follow the instructions at the top of the retailer’s page to get an access code.

Game has three cheap PS5 bundles in stock

Monday 18 July 2022 09:50 , Alex Lee

Game’s bundles aren’t often the cheapest in the world, but it seems like the retailer has rejigged its offering, and is now serving up three disc edition bundles that are pretty darn affordable. Once again, no standalone consoles in stock, but these bundles are pretty worth it.

There’s a PS5 disc edition bundle with an extra dualsense controller in either black or white, plus a case for your controller (£514.98, Game.co.uk) in stock, or you could opt for the PS5 disc edition console with a copy of Horizon Forbidden West and a controller case (£524.98, Game.co.uk).

The cheapest PS5 bundle is in stock at Very

Monday 18 July 2022 09:34 , Alex Lee

Sadly, the standalone disc edition console has sold out at Very now, but the retailer still has a bunch of bundles available to buy this very second.

The cheapest disc edition bundle costs £499.99 and comes with a digital download code of Horizon Forbidden West, but you can also get bundles with Forbidden West and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (£559.98, Very.co.uk) or Forbidden West and an extra dualsense controller (£559.98, Very.co.uk).
